Tested: Desirel Magic Pillow - The Wedge That Got Between Us
Can a simple wedge really make that much difference in bed? We tested the Desirel Magic Pillow as a couple, and the answer turned out to be more interesting than we expected.
Testers: Dora & Christian
Sex pillows are probably one of the last things most couples think of when it comes to bedroom accessories. Yet the right one can open up surprisingly different possibilities during sex. This time, Dóri and I tested one of the simplest, most entry-level options in the category, and it quickly managed to drive a wedge between us. Quite literally.
What is the Desirel Magic Pillow sex pillow actually for?
Don't worry, our relationship survived. The Desirel Magic Pillow is simply a wedge-shaped sex pillow designed primarily to raise the receiving partner's hips during sex.
That extra lift changes the angle of penetration, which can make deeper vaginal penetration easier and can also help with more targeted G-spot stimulation. It is a very simple idea, but sometimes simple ideas are exactly the ones that work.
Which sex positions work best with the Desirel Magic Pillow?
For us, the angle and approximately 18 cm of lift provided by the smaller Magic Pillow worked best in missionary, and we suspect this will also be the most natural starting point for many couples.
That is exactly how we put it to the test. Placed underneath the hips, the pillow creates a noticeable change in angle without turning a familiar position into some complicated bedroom gymnastics session.
If you are looking for more support for a classic kneeling doggy-style position with the legs slightly apart, we think the larger Desirel Magic Pillow is the better option. That version measures 74 × 48 × 28 cm and provides considerably more height. Another possibility would be to combine two pillows if you need more elevation.
The smaller version can also work in a face-down position for penetration from behind, but this depends quite a lot on the receiving partner's height, body shape and anatomy. There is no universal perfect angle here, so a little experimenting is part of the fun.

What are the material and design like?
Now that we have started slightly unusually with what the pillow actually does, let's talk about the product itself.
The Desirel Magic Pillow arrives vacuum-packed, so after opening it, it is worth giving the pillow a few minutes to expand back to its normal shape. After that, it is basically ready to use. There is no pumping, assembling or other preparation involved beyond normal hygiene.
One pleasant surprise was that there was no unpleasant smell when we unpacked it. The materials feel good for this type of product, while the outer cover has a soft, velvety texture. It also stays in place well instead of constantly sliding around underneath you.
The cover has a zip, so it can be removed and washed, which is exactly the kind of practical detail you appreciate after actually using a sex pillow rather than simply looking at one online.
This is not trying to be a luxury piece of bedroom furniture. If that is what you want, there are much more elaborate options available. But during use, the Magic Pillow does exactly what it needs to do, and the overall quality feels appropriate for a straightforward, entry-level product.
There are no built-in restraints, decorative bows, masturbator holders, dildo mounts or other clever extras. And honestly, that simplicity is part of the appeal. You do not feel as though you need a user manual or a carefully planned session before bringing it into bed. You simply place it where it feels right and use it.
That also means you are less likely to treat it as something precious that has to stay perfectly clean and untouched. It is a practical bedroom accessory, and you can treat it like one.
Inside, the pillow uses good-quality, shape-retaining foam. After use, it returns to its original shape quickly, which gives us reasonable confidence that it should continue doing its job well over time.
What was the Desirel Magic Pillow like to use as a couple?
What we liked most was how little effort it takes to introduce the pillow into sex. There is no learning curve and no need to completely change what you are already doing together.
You can take a familiar position, place the wedge underneath the hips and immediately notice that the angle has changed. That makes it particularly easy to experiment with positioning without making the whole experience feel overly technical.
The smaller size also means it does not dominate the bed or feel like a piece of specialist sex furniture. When you are finished, it is easy enough to move aside or store away.
For us, that is probably the biggest advantage of this particular Magic Pillow. It adds something useful without demanding much attention. You do not have to build the evening around it. It simply becomes another option you can reach for when you feel like changing the angle or adding a little extra support.
Who would we recommend the Desirel Magic Pillow to?
We think the smaller Desirel Magic Pillow is an especially good choice for couples trying a sex pillow for the first time. It is straightforward, compact and practically ready to use as soon as it has expanded after unpacking.
That last point might sound trivial, but compare it with an inflatable pillow. There is nothing particularly seductive about deciding to have spontaneous sex and then spending the next few minutes blowing up what looks suspiciously like a miniature air mattress.
The Magic Pillow also does not take up much room and is relatively easy to store discreetly, so it makes sense if you want a targeted solution rather than a large piece of dedicated sex furniture.
We even found it surprisingly comfortable as a general support cushion when relaxing the lower back and SI joint area. We would treat that purely as a personal comfort bonus rather than the purpose of the product, but it does mean the pillow does not necessarily have to disappear into a cupboard every time someone enters the bedroom.
And if you discover that you really enjoy the extra comfort and new angles a sex pillow can provide, there is plenty of room to go bigger from here. Desirel's sex pillow and sex furniture collection also includes larger options designed to support more complex positions.
Those bigger pieces naturally require more bedroom space, but the small Magic Pillow is a very easy way to find out whether this type of accessory deserves a permanent place in your sex life.

Let's be honest—when someone mentions the missionary position, you might think "basic" or "boring." But here's the thing: there's a reason this face-to-face position has been a bedroom favorite for centuries. It's intimate, it's versatile, and when done right, it can be absolutely mind-blowing.
